Best fitBrand and marketing teams
Establish whether the brand appears at all when a buyer asks broad category questions, then preserve the exact prompt and engine behind the observation.
Enter your brand (and optionally your domain) plus a category, and we'll run live probes of the AI engines themselves — ChatGPT and Gemini — with 5 real category questions to see whether they mention or cite you. Free, no signup required.
This free AI visibility checker returns a one-off snapshot for the buyer-style category prompts it tests. You can review the prompt, supported engine, whether your brand was cited, citation position when available, and an engine-level citation rate. It is evidence from a defined sample—not a universal AI ranking.

SearchChamp creates five category questions and checks the currently supported engines: ChatGPT and Gemini.

AI visibility describes whether a brand appears when an answer engine responds to a relevant question. A mention is the brand appearing in answer text. A citation is a source reference associated with the response. A brand can be mentioned without a citation, and a cited page does not automatically mean the answer recommends the brand.
Establish whether the brand appears at all when a buyer asks broad category questions, then preserve the exact prompt and engine behind the observation.
Identify answers that cite another source and decide whether the gap is relevance, evidence, crawl access, entity clarity, or simply an inconclusive sample.
Use a dated, one-off snapshot during discovery without presenting a small prompt sample as a market-wide share-of-voice study.
Citations across several tested prompts are a useful positive signal; protect the clear category pages and credible evidence that may support them.
Few or no citations mean the sampled answers did not use your brand as a source. Check relevance, entity clarity, page quality, and competitor coverage.
Mixed engines, unavailable responses, or missing positions reduce confidence. Re-run later or monitor a stable custom prompt set before making a major decision.
Identify the clearest source pages, keep their facts current, and broaden your prompt set before assuming the pattern holds everywhere.
Strengthen the attributable source behind the claim with specific evidence, clear ownership, and an accessible page.
Compare the question with your category copy, supporting research, technical accessibility, and the sources competitors earn.
A free check answers “what appeared for this small sample now?” Ongoing tracking answers a different question: how visibility changes across stable custom prompts, history, competitors, citations, sentiment, and share of voice. Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode should only be treated as covered where a product surface explicitly confirms that source.
A mention occurs when an answer names a brand in its text. A citation is a source reference attached to or returned with that answer. The two signals can overlap, but neither implies the other: an answer can mention a familiar brand while citing a publisher, and it can cite a company page as evidence without recommending the company. The free AI visibility checker keeps that distinction visible because the actions are different. A weak or inaccurate mention is primarily a positioning problem; an absent citation is a source and evidence question.
Citation position, when the provider returns it, describes where the source appeared in that response. It is not a Google rank and it is not a universal order across ChatGPT or Gemini. Read the answer context before treating an early reference as positive: prominence, accuracy, sentiment, and relevance are separate questions that require the full response or ongoing monitoring.
The current free check supports ChatGPT and Gemini. SearchChamp’s paid AI Visibility Tracker also describes workflows for Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, but that broader product coverage must not be confused with this free route. The report identifies the engine for every tested prompt so a result from one system is never presented as evidence about another.
AI answers are variable. Model updates, retrieval availability, geography, account context, wording, and timing can change what appears. A one-off check is therefore a dated observation of a defined prompt sample. It is useful for orientation and investigation, but a stable custom prompt set and repeated measurements are needed before calling a change a trend.
Start with the prompt, not the score. Confirm that the question represents a real buyer need and that your site has a clear page answering it. Then inspect any genuinely returned cited domains. Ask what claim those sources support, whether your equivalent page is crawlable, and whether its facts, ownership, dates, and entity relationships are explicit enough to stand alone. Do not copy the cited page or manufacture evidence to imitate it.
Separate technical access from editorial relevance. A blocked crawler, a JavaScript-only page, or a conflicting canonical can prevent a good page from being read. A fully accessible page can still be irrelevant, vague, or unsupported. The free result tells you where to investigate; it does not diagnose every cause automatically.
Use the free tool when you need a focused answer now. Ongoing tracking serves a different decision: whether visibility changes across the same custom prompts and engines over time. SearchChamp’s paid workflow adds saved prompt portfolios, history, competitor monitoring, mention and citation share, sentiment, cited sources, and repeatable reporting. Those capabilities are not silently implied by the free result.
The upgrade is useful when several people need the same evidence, when a campaign needs a before-and-after baseline, or when prompt and competitor coverage is too broad for manual checks. A team that is still deciding which buyer questions matter can stay with the free checker until the monitoring question is defined.
The tool generates five category questions per supported engine and records the response data available at request time. Results may be briefly cached, and temporary engine unavailability is shown rather than converted into a zero.
It does not test every prompt, locale, user context, or engine; estimate visits or conversions; or guarantee future inclusion. Cited domains, pages, and topics appear only when genuinely supported by returned data.
This guide is constrained to the fields returned by the current free report: its generated category prompts, supported engine, citation presence, citation position when available, cited domains when returned, and an engine-level rate for the sampled prompts. It does not turn missing source data into a claimed page, topic, ranking, visit, or conversion.

No. A mention names the brand in the answer; a citation identifies a source used by the response.
No. It is the percentage of this tool’s defined prompt sample that cited the brand.
Use a one-off check for orientation. Use a stable, recurring prompt set when you need to distinguish a trend from answer variability.
